By now, almost everyone has heard about one of the "Detox Diets". The biggest questions most people have are "What do they do" and "Do I need a detox diet"?

What does a Detox Diet Do?

It probably comes as no surprise, but the world we live in is full of toxins. From the air we breathe, to the water we drink, to the food we eat, chemicals are everywhere. Without some way to eliminate these toxins, the build up in the body, causing illness and disease.

As the human body cannot eradicate harmful toxins on its own, they accumulate, causing illness and disease. To keep things from becoming even worse, individuals are advised to go on a detox diet that is designed to flush those toxins away through your urine or waste.

How Will I Feel?

If you haven't tried a detox diet before, you might be in for a bit of a shock. Over the first few days of the diet, it is not uncommon to feel bad (mild headache, sore throat). This is due to the toxins being released from your body. This is actually a sign that the diet is working.

Detox diets are not for everyone. Children, the elderly and anyone diagnosed with other illnesses such as cancer are encouraged to talk to their doctors prior to undertaking any sort of detox diet.

While medical science has not proven the efficiency of these diets, those who have tried them in the past all swear by their effectiveness. If you are a heavy smoker, drinker and suffer from aches and pains, you may benefit from a detox diet even more.

Do you need the detox diet program? That's one question only you can answer after you looking at yourself in a mirror.

The biggest difference between the detox diet and a regular diet is the length of time of the detox diet. With a regular diet, your plan is to stay on that diet for many months or more. With the detox diet, the timeframe is usually less than one week. After a week or less, the toxins that have been built up in your system should be flushed out and you can go back to your normal diets. Then in a few months you would go back on the detox diet when toxins have built back up.

When you have finished the detox diet, you should have more energy, less aches and pains, and better looking skin.

Detox diets have been around for over 60 years. Celebrities such as Beyonce have used them and swear by their effectiveness. For more information on Detox Diets, click the banner below.
